Pangkor Laut Resort

It seemed like ages since we had a nice holiday. So when Eric said we should do something different for our 9th wedding anniversary and suggested going to Pangkor Laut Resort, I was all for it. We’ve heard so many good reviews from our friends who have been to this place so we had to check it out for ourselves. I think the most excited amongst us was our daughter Cheryl. She must be picturing in her mind how fun it will be to play all day in the sand and sea.

The journey to the jetty felt like it took forever as the latter stretch of the journey involved travelling on single-lane roads that brought us through plantations and kampungs. Nowadays, having been spoiled with the convenience of highways, it is so easy to forget that once upon a time before highways were built, those roads were our only way of travelling by land from one state in Malaysia to another. Definitely long, tiresome and challenging especially if you have little travellers with you. Nevertheless, it was an interesting ride as we reminisce about our childhood days when life was much less complicated and how simple outdoor activities or games were all we looked forward for in the evenings.

At Marina Island jetty, we looked for the Pangkor Laut lounge. The building was a welcoming sight for the kids after having spent hours cooped up in the car. Needless to say, the kids set off running all over the place, giggling, climbing on the lounge chairs and playing hide-and-seek with each other. The waiting area outside of the building even had a few four-poster beds for guests to lay down and maybe take a short nap while waiting for the ferry to arrive. We were told by the hotel staff that it was low season at that time, which was good because the place wouldn’t be so crowded then.

Darren was initially a little scared and worried when the ferry started to move. But thanks to his encouraging big sister, he later started to get the hang of it

A cosy little bed specially for the little girl. Cheryl liked the feeling of being independent (sleeping by herself on the little bed). But I think what she equally liked about it was the fact that she gets to watch tv from her bed.

Besides indulging in the sun, sand and sea, Pangkor Laut is also all about eating to your heart’s content. In the local’s package (which was the one we signed up for), food is all inclusive in the cost of the package. And the portion was really huge. It was truly a feast for all of us throughout the entire stay.

After food, it’s back again to more water play. No wonder the kids loved this place so much.

Day 3

Just before we checked out on the last day of our trip, I went for the award-winning spa which they said was worth trying. The picture below was the swimming pool only for those staying in the Spa Villas. Very exclusive huh…. Sorry didn’t manage to take any pictures during my spa treatment as I was too busy getting pampered 😉  Special thanks to Daddy for babysitting the kids while Mommy gets to relax.

All good things e.g. holiday trips must come to an end. So here we were, back in the ferry, waving goodbye to the hotel staff who provided excellent and very personalised service to us throughout the trip. We left the island feeling satisfied, relaxed and rejuvenated. Cheryl was so sad when we left and cried on our journey back to Penang. Well….I’m glad that at least she really enjoyed herself and it was a great holiday for all 4 of us.
