For the past 4 months, I’ve been on a rather familiar journey…..one which I’ve traveled before 2 years ago. Yes….we’re expecting our 2nd one soon! It seemed like it was just yesterday when Cheryl was such a tiny baby. And now I can’t believe she has grown up to be such a big girl and soon she’ll be promoted to be the big sister.
God has been good…..the 1st trimester for both of my pregnancies had been a relatively easy one. Though this time I did experience a slightly more intense bout of nausea and tiredness (which my obgyn says is all normal for a subsequent pregnancy), I’m really thankful that He spared me from having any morning sickness. Being a pregnant full time mom this round, I probably had the luxury of taking afternoon naps together with Cheryl but that also meant that I had a non-stop babysitting job to do throughout the day…and it’s no joke having to keep up with my active 2-year old especially during the 1st trimester. I was just so tired and lethargic all the time. There were also a few adjustments that had to be made e.g. trying not to carry Cheryl as much as possible. And since I’m the only one with her most of the day, that was simply unavoidable. But thankfully, after entering my 2nd trimester, things got a little better 🙂
I guess the next big task for us is to prepare Cheryl to be a big ‘che che’. She has been following me for my monthly doctor’s appointments and watched curiously at the ultrasound screen. Initially, she didn’t really understand what was happening but after our most recent doctor’s visit at my 15th week, she has been pointing to my tummy and telling us that “baby’s in there”. Sometimes, she would even put her head on my tummy when I ask her to “sayang” the baby. The next moment to look forward to is when Cheryl discovers that the baby can actually move! I can’t wait to see her reactions then. That would be another interesting thing to write about 🙂
