Though it has been 2 weeks since my dad passed away on 15th September 2012, it still feels like he is around with us. It isn’t surprising, considering the fact that for the past 33 years of my life, he has been the most present and dependable person I know. At times, I still find it hard to believe he isn’t around anymore. But even so, the memories of him continue to live on in us; his children and his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
My dad definitely had the funeral and wake services he had been hoping for. He was so ready to go home to the Lord that he planned almost every single detail of it himself when he was still alive. He told us he wanted his funeral to be a time of rejoicing and I think he would have been pleased to see how beautiful everything turned out.
I still wonder sometimes why God allowed my dad to have cancer and took him home early. I know for sure that if he was alive and well today, he would still be serving God fervently. Doing God’s work had always been my dad’s true passion in life. But I’m glad that even with the years God has given him, he has impacted and touched so many lives and left such a great legacy behind. This is evident in the stories that were shared by many during his wake services and funeral. His life is truly a testimony of the fulfillment of 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
As a tribute to my dear father, Eric and I have put together these photos of him and our family as a remembrance of all the wonderful memories and seasons we have shared together all these years.
“Goodbye, Papa. Till we meet again in heaven one day. I love you and will remember you always…..”
