People often ask if I have any cravings during my pregnancy. Fortunately for Eric, I have not had any distinct cravings so far. Still no late night demands that require him to travel great lengths to fulfill my wishes. As a matter of fact, I think my eating habits have made life easier for him; since now I’m much less fussier about food and pretty much don’t mind eating anything just as long as it’s safe for the baby and filling enough for me. 🙂
On the other hand, I’m almost convinced that daddy could be partially experiencing what they call a Couvade Syndrome also known as “Sympathetic Pregnancy”. Of course he blames his significant increase of appetite on his recent trip to US. That may be partially true, as I know he had been indulging himself on all the generous portions of steak, lobsters, king crabs and what not’s that you can easily find there. But what tickles me is that lately, his eating habits have changed quite a bit. From a person who doesn’t mind eating anything as long as it fills his tummy, he is starting to crave certain types of food during the day….from Nyonya dishes to Thai food, ice cream, satay, “bak kua” just to name a few. Fortunately for him, I can just go along with all his suggestions.
I guess….in some way, it’s comforting to know that I’m not alone and he is “sympathetically” sharing a part of this journey with me. 🙂
